Some mornings, I wake up feeling like I hate myself and my life.
Not in a dark, scary way. I’m just fucking tired.
The day has barely fucking started, and I’m already looking forward to it being over. Can we just skip to bedtime, please? I have nothing against today personally. I just don’t have the energy to participate in it.
My air conditioner is broken. The weather is disgustingly hot and humid. I’m sick with a congested nose, a sore throat, a mild migraine, and a stomachache from eating too much junk food yesterday.
And somehow, all of this becomes an opportunity to review everything wrong with my life.
My room is messy. My bedsheets need changing. I haven’t done skincare in a week despite owning expensive products. I have books to read, diamond painting to finish, coloring projects to start, and a Chinese drama I’m too tired to watch.
I also have 65 blog posts I want to copy to Tumblr, a wishlist I’ve somehow turned into a to-do list, and a room that apparently refuses to smell good enough despite all my incense and expensive room sprays.
My mom wants me to see a doctor. The clinic is one minute away.
I still haven’t gone.
At this point, even basic maintenance feels like a full-time job.
My Life Is in TBD Status
I feel like I haven’t accomplished enough. I’m nowhere near the person I want to become. My communication skills need work, my spiritual development feels nonexistent, my eating habits aren’t great, and my life is a collection of unfinished tasks.
Everything is pending. Everything needs fixing. Everything could be better.
And I have absolutely no energy to do anything about it.
I’m not particularly anxious, depressed, numb, happy, or sad. I don’t even know what I’m feeling, and I’m too tired to investigate.
I don’t want to read the news, learn something new, shop online, discover a restaurant, or find out what’s happening in the world.
I just want to be left alone by my own expectations.
I’m too tired to live productively, but apparently not tired enough to stop criticizing myself for it.
Thank God I don’t have a business, pets, or children depending on me. I can barely take care of myself right now.
And the repairmen might be giving up on my air conditioner, too. Wonderful.
I Don’t Have a Grand Plan
Normally, I’d try to fix everything by making a list, creating a routine, or promising myself a fresh start tomorrow.
Not today.
I know all the advice. Clean one corner. Complete one small task. Take a shower. Start somewhere.
But I don’t want to turn my exhaustion into another self-improvement project.
I don’t want to optimize my morning, improve my habits, or become a better version of myself before lunchtime.
I want to exist without making existence another assignment.
Maybe I’m just physically exhausted. Maybe being sick, uncomfortable, and sleep-deprived has made everything feel ten times harder. Maybe this feeling will pass once my body gets some rest.
I hope it does.
For now, I don’t have a breakthrough, a five-step plan, or an inspirational quote to offer myself.
I have a messy room, a broken air conditioner, and a body begging me to slow down.
That’s enough to deal with today.
Not every bad day needs to become a turning point. Sometimes, a bad day is just a bad fucking day.
